Once, like you, I packed my bags for my first foreign tour.
The next day, 35 years had passed.

Two actors hit the road for an imaginary tour, the tour of tours told through travel diaries they’ve accumulated over the years. From China to Africa and Europe to Montreal, they talk of life and death, theatre, and the ups and downs of their love lives. The older of the two, Jean-François, has 35 years’ experience in his body and soul. Véronique, many years younger, is on her first tour, and the events she experiences will call her conception of the world into question. Travelogs traces the stages leading from self awareness to an awareness of others and emphasises the need for imagination in order to change reality. There is life after life : the life of others! Through the pages of these Travelogs, we discover the importance of being open to other people’s ideas, of exploring the unknown, passing on knowledge, respecting your audience and the special bonds of friendship which tie travelling players.

I have arrived at the furthest point in my journey, which is neither the summit nor the end of the road, but the point where I look all around me, where I look at you.

Since it was founded in 1973, Les Deux Mondes has travelled the globe, keeping its eyes wide open and its ears to the ground. The company has created 26 original works and given more than 3,300 performances on all five continents. It has won numerous awards and its original works and artistic enquiry have led it to more than 200 cities in 32 countries. At the beginning of Travelogs we thus find some of the images, stories, music and sounds gathered in the course of these peregrinations, mixed with the private lives of the performers and the imaginary worlds of its creators. Through the magic of multimedia, video and 3D animation, all of these elements recreate places and ambiences and set the tone for this pœtic and moving work of musical theatre.
